# Use ShowsUp from your AI assistant

Connect Claude, ChatGPT or any assistant that supports MCP, and ask it about your meetings, tidy up your sequences or prepare messages. Anything that would reach a prospect waits for you to approve it in ShowsUp.

## Connect

1. In your assistant, add a custom connector (Claude calls it **Add custom connector** under Settings → Connectors) and enter `https://api.upshow.co.uk/mcp`.
2. Your browser opens ShowsUp. Sign in if you're asked to.
3. Check the app name and the site it will send you back to. Only continue if you started this yourself.
4. Select **Allow**. If you want to limit what the assistant can do, select **Choose what it can do** first and switch off anything you don't want.

Using Gemini? Add a custom MCP server with the same address. Gemini Enterprise and the Gemini CLI both accept it.

Using Claude Code? Run `claude mcp add --transport http upshow https://api.upshow.co.uk/mcp`, then sign in from `/mcp`.

## When it wants to contact someone

Sending a message, cancelling or rescheduling a meeting, or changing reminders for meetings already booked never happens straight away. The assistant prepares it, and it waits on the [Approvals](https://app.showsup.ai/approvals) page in ShowsUp with a preview of exactly what will happen. Nothing is sent until you select **Approve**. Anything you don't approve within 24 hours expires.

Under **Choose what it can do** you can turn on **Send without asking me in ShowsUp**. The assistant then confirms with you in the chat instead, and your AI app is the only check. We recommend leaving it off.

## What your assistant can't see

- Replies read from your connected Gmail or Outlook mailbox. It's told a reply exists, and you read it in ShowsUp.
- Names that came from your Google contacts. It sees the email address instead.
- Your CRM notes and deals, passwords, keys and payment details.

It can see SMS and WhatsApp replies, and replies sent to an ShowsUp reply address. Our [privacy policy](https://showsup.ai/privacy) (section 7) lists everything a connected assistant can receive.

## Be careful with text from other people

Meeting titles, prospect details and messages are written by other people, and someone could write instructions aimed at your assistant. ShowsUp tells your assistant to treat this text as information, never as instructions, and that text can't approve anything. Your assistant could still be misled, so read each approval before you accept it.

## Agencies and teams

If you own an agency or team, you can ask the assistant to act for one of your active clients or reps, as you can in the app. Anything it prepares for them waits for approval in your own account.

## API keys for your own scripts

In [Settings → Integrations](https://app.showsup.ai/settings?tab=integrations), under **AI connections**, create a read-only key. Copy it straight away: it's shown only once. Send it with each request as `Authorization: Bearer <key>`.

## Disconnect

In [Settings → Integrations](https://app.showsup.ai/settings?tab=integrations), under **AI connections**, select **Revoke** next to the app or key. It stops working on its next request. Anything your assistant already received stays with its provider.
